I built a company the old way.
I’d never do it again.
I’m Chris. I live in Houston. I’ve spent my whole career selling things and building companies — some that failed, one that worked, and one that’s working right now in a way I didn’t think was possible a few years ago.
I started out as a sales guy carrying a bag. Selling taught me the one skill I still think matters more than any other for a founder: earning trust from a stranger. No software does that. It’s still the whole game.
Then came the failed startups. A few of them. Each one was an expensive lesson — building before selling, confusing a product with a business, hiring for problems I didn’t have yet. I don’t romanticize any of it. It was tuition.
Then RepeatMD, which I co-founded and we scaled the old way — by the book, literally. Hundreds of employees, teams of engineers, venture capital, the whole playbook. And it worked. That’s the part that makes what came next strange: the machine we built was a success, and the day it was finished I realized it was already obsolete.
What took us hundreds of people, a founder can now do with a handful — if the company is built AI-first from day one instead of bolting AI onto an old org chart. That’s what I’m doing now with BAM AI: automating revenue cycle work for medical practices, with agents doing jobs that used to take a back-office team. In production, at real practices, today.
This site is where I write about that — what’s actually working, what isn’t, and what I’d tell anyone trying to build a real business right now.
The Book
How to Build a Business Now
I’m writing a book about building a 9-figure business with a single-digit team — the honest story of scaling the old way, and the blueprint for doing it the new way. If you want it when it’s ready, leave your email.
No spam. One email when the book ships, maybe one or two along the way.

I went quiet for five months. My AI agents didn’t. What shipped while I wasn’t posting, and why “build in public” quietly became “market in public.”

I built my last company using Jim Collins’ playbook. It worked. That’s exactly why I’m telling you it’s obsolete.

The Generalist Agent Trap

A $200/month AI that does 100 things at a 60% level loses to an agent that does one thing at 99%. Especially when the one thing is your revenue.
